The income for our charity fund is steadily growing, which is very gratifying!
Hello and welcome to my blog, an account of our sail around Great Britain during 2015 and 2016. The sail is being undertaken by my friend Roger and I, and with friends who wish to sail either part of the way or all of the way with us. We are using the voyage as a means of raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. We are keen to hear from anyone who is interested in the project, and anyone who wishes to join the crew. I do hope you enjoy following the blog. Michael.

Home comforts......
The Blue Star sewing :-/ club has now completed the lovely cushions it was making. The quilt however is still being attended to. Oh, and the lovely bunting! Yes, with stars on it! Diane is working hard on it, and you can see it later. Then there are the wonderful mugs that Gill bought, and the new kettle for the making of tea for club members! Mmmm.
I would like to point out at this juncture that we WILL be doing some sailing on our boat too.

Cushions, press releases, survey results, sail-away events.....
It's all happening! So much to think about!
The survey results on Blue Star are very encouraging, although there is still some final negotiation to be done.......and a rather long list of jobs! Most of them relatively small ones fortunately.
Diane is busy making cushions for our boat, in all sorts of starry designs! See below.
The CF Trust has drafted a press release about our forthcoming voyage, to help raise the profile of cystic fibrosis, and hopefully to help us in our fund-raising efforts!
Did I tell you about our Sail Away 'party' which will be held over the week-end 16/17 May at Hythe marina near Southampton? On the 16th there will be a drinks reception, 'sail away' dinner, a talk about the challenge we have taken on, and an opportunity to step on board Blue Star to see what she is like! We hope there will be a celebrity attending to support our event too. We plan to depart from the marina on the first leg of our circumnavigation on the 17th at 1100hrs, hopefully with lots of people cheering us on our way! I have already let lots of friends know about this event, but if you would like to come and I have not yet mentioned it to you, do please get in touch with me! It would be great to have your support!

It was freezing.....!!!!!
Recently got back home after doing a 'test sail' on Blue Star on a very cold February day; we wanted to do this before completing the purchase of the yacht. She sailed like a dream in a very cold northerly F3 on a flat sea. We are now just awaiting the surveyor's report before we hand over a ridiculously large amount of cash! Are we crazy?!!
But it will be fun!!!!!!
And hopefully we will raise lots of money for my favourite charity!
We went over to the Isle-of-Wight in a fast motor-cruiser! We got bounced around and could barely speak to each other because of the noise. It confirmed to me that sailing is what I like best!
Anyway, you can see some photos and a short video from day of the test sail below. I hope that you like them!
